Cheatham Colonies

The Naval Weapons Station Yorktown, Cheatham Annex in Williamsburg, VA is used for receiving, storing, packing and shipping materials to federal facilities on the East Coast and major European distribution centers. Located within the Annex, the Cheatham Colonies BEQ utilizes a garden-style complex comprised of ten, two-story buildings.

Able to accommodate a total of 120 residents, each building contains eight housing units with semi-private baths, walk-in closets, kitchenettes, bike racks, outdoor seating areas and safety lighting.

CMSS additionally designed a 5,000 SF community center inclusive of a conference room, recreation room, offices with audio-visual capabilities, training room, laundry facilities and storage area. Landscape elements included planting, tree preservation, a wildflower basin, picnic area and observation deck overlooking a lake. A jogging path and training circuit are connected to an outdoor patio and seating area.
