Forest City Conference Room
Part of a fifteen city block renovation of pre-1900's tobacco warehouses, this small, 1,800 SF space was converted into a real estate satellite office that combines urban sophistication with elements reminiscent of the structure's heritage.
Tasked with space planning, redesign, and the specification of materials and finishes, the overall design solution focused on a blend of old and new resources. Original warehouse elements such as heavy timber beams, cast-iron columns and a concrete floor were preserved to sustain the aesthetic origins of a historic warehouse.
The conference room conserves space with a new curved wall that also serves as a focal point for visitors. Transparent lucite panels along another wall enhance natural light infiltration while still providing confidentiality.
This imaginative solution makes the small space functional and appealing, yet reflective of the building's industrial origins.
