CMSS’s master planning and urban infill of The Heritage at Freemason Harbour, an upscale, 182-unit residential complex, transformed the urban fabric of downtown Norfolk, Virginia as well as the attitudes of local city dwellers.

Encompassing three city blocks, the street-oriented housing design provides enclosed parking and maintains the Georgian architectural style of the surrounding historic Freemason District. Brick sidewalks, traditional lighting, and a formal sculpture garden/plaza reinforce the area’s charming legacy. Located at street-level is 10,000 SF of high-end retail and specialty stores, providing residents convenient dining and shopping within their neighborhood.

Situated within walking distance of a variety of entertainment venues, cultural attractions, restaurants and unique shopping opportunities, the development makes full use of context and location to reach a residential market previously not addressed within the city.
