Following a programming analysis for the consolidation, renovation, or construction of new facilities for this client, CMSS recommended that the company should remain downtown and redevelop two city blocks for its corporate headquarters.
The four-story, 141,000 SF building unifies Media General’s corporate operations and reflects the company’s stature in Richmond's business community. Facing the company’s renovated Richmond Times Dispatch building, the structure complements the design aesthetic while boasting contemporary features. A combination of metal panels, aluminum canopies, and three-story columns on the front façade introduces the high-tech image of the company while the dramatic four-story rotunda serves a practical purpose for connectivity between the various functions and departments housed within the building.
Creating a program that combines a cohesive environment with flexible space standards, the design team ensures that Media General can offer high quality, efficient work spaces that can be tailored to any employee and allow for future growth.
