Bakery Lofts
Using historic tax credits, CMSS designed the adaptive re-use of the two-story 100,000 SF Nolde Bakery to appeal to the sophisticated, urban pioneer looking for an unusual and exceptional home.
Though chic and modern on the inside, the spirit of the 1920s bakery carries further than the name outside the building. The designers used elements such as the original glazed, tan terracotta bricks and metal fire doors to revisit the long history of the building while incorporating new amenities and marble countertops in the 77 individual units. In a dramatic gesture, CMSS preserved the original exterior walls in the main lobby and created a unique, two-story, glass-enclosed entryway to link the two buildings together across an alley.
Residents enjoy private rooftop decks, a health club, state-of-the-art security, a video theater, and a separate parking garage.
