Office Annex, U.S. Embassy in Bogota, Columbia

With one of the largest diplomatic missions in the world, the US Embassy in Bogota nearly doubled its staff in the last decade creating a dire need for additional administrative space. As part of a design-build team, CMSS completed work on a 50,000 SF office annex. The main objective was to match the existing facility and provide continuity between the new and existing facilities.

The design of the interior envelope and the color, texture, and pattern of the annex match the existing Chancery. An entry plaza for the three-story building is formed by a cylindrical element, which extends from the lobby.

The lobby walls are the continuation of patterned sandstone from the exterior cylindrical entry element. To provide a neutral counterpart to the warmth and richness of the stone wall panels, the floor is framed black granite pavers which extend out through the plaza to complete the circle.
