Guadalajara City Cafe
Located in the busy Downtown Norfolk entertainment corridor, this 6,375 SF Mexican restaurant captures the ambiance of an outdoor Mexican courtyard within a sophisticated indoor space. To create an outdoor feel, the design concept was developed around the four elements - earth, water, fire, and wind. Paying homage to contemporary Mexican architecture, the designers used vivid colors, bold shapes and unique finishes.
The "chameleon-like" atmosphere transforms from day to night. For daytime, the space is geared for a relaxed dining experience with daylight filtering through with varied-height partitions and openings. In the evening hours, theatrical lighting is added for a dramatic effect. Later, the restaurant transforms into a nightclub, enhanced with a system which illuminates the overhead sails with multi-colored lights that pulse to the beat of the music.
