Mariners Row Retail District
Mariners Row was envisioned as a central mixed-use district marrying commerce, entertainment, and social interaction. With this in mind, CMSS planned an open-air urban marketplace around a main street lined with pedestrian walkways, plazas, attractive streetscapes, and accessible parking.
CMSS designed Mariners Row to maximize visual appeal, using massing, texture, and detail. Retail buildings line the street housing several merchants with distinct identities in one structure. To accomplish this, CMSS faced the exteriors with a mélange of brick, pre-cast concrete, EIFS, and wood, articulating a series of individual storefronts. This unique approach gives each tenant space a sense of identity and a distinct character. Upper stories house office and commercial spaces.
The district has become a center for destination retail, attracting a mix of tenants including national and local retailers: Taste Unlimited; Anne Taylor Loft; Coldwater Creek; Animare Salon & Spa; and Talbots.
