The Power Plant at Rocketts Landing

Located at Rocketts Landing, the Power Plant was once used to provide power for Richmond’s fleet of trolley cars. The existing structure, constructed around 1887, was left in ruins and the goal of the developer and designer was to preserve the historic building and re-purpose it into a modern facility to meet market demands.

The ultimate goal was to create a 5-story outdoor piazza which starts at the flood plain level, engages the street on the second level, and rises above to a third level.

Two floors are occupied by the Boathouse Restaurant and feature fine dining with 180 degree views of the James River and the Richmond skyline. The top floor houses the harbormaster's office. The renovated facility successfully brings patrons back to the historic birthplace of the area.
